A red Ribbon Club (RRC) activity has been inaugurated at the University College of Engineering (UCEA) Arni on the Forenoon of 25.05.2011 (Wednesday). Nearly 200 students from both boys and girls have participated in the programme. The inauguration programme has been arranged by the YRC co-ordinator Dr.G.Ramesh Kumar, Assistant Professor /Physics, UCEA. The District Manager, RRC of Tiruvannamalai district Mr. C. Rajendiran has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest of the function. |

The programme started with invocation song sung by all the student volunteers of UCEA. After the invocation song, Dr. G. Senthil Kumar, Principal i/c of UCEA has given his welcome address. He has also honoured the chief guest with a shawl and a memento. Further, he also contended that the YRC activities of the UCEA are appreciable and notable on social conscious. He has also requested that YRC co-ordinator may also continue to serve the students for developing their co-curricular activities through various RRC programmes guided by the district administration of Tamil Nadu AIDS control board. |

The Chief Guest took the session for the inaugural address. Before addressing the gathering, he has requested to inaugurate the RRC at UCEA by a name board showing the initialization and as well as functioning of RRC activities at the University College of Engineering Arni. |

The chief guest has inspired everyone by his humorous and sensational speech. He has rightly handled the embarrassing situation while delivering the issues like Sexual Transferable Diseases (STD), Origin of HIV virus, the ways and means to control the spreading rate of HIV infection among the rural mass. Since, most of the spectators are in the adolescent groups, the methods of creating awareness about HIV virus and the consequences of the diseases have been explained scientifically. The role of student RRC volunteers in educating the illiterate people living in the neighbouring villages was also enumerated in detail. |

The wonderful talk given by the chief guest has enlightened everyone and all the students volunteers have been much benefited by a wealth of information given by him. Perhaps, the volunteers have given their assurance to the chief guest that they would do the campaigning activities on HIV awareness with a true spirit. |
|
Finally, the programme came to an end with the vote of thanks given by Dr. G. Ramesh Kumar, YRC Co-ordinator and the function was graced with the presence of faculty members of all departments and Non-Teaching staff members of UCEA. |

With the mass singing National Anthem, the programme winds up with a grand success. |
